PHILOSOPHY

Southwest Ohio VFW Memorial Team Philosophy of Service

Admonitions: "Good, Better, Best – never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best.”  Buddy LaRosa

  • Let us remember why we do what we do (honoring the military service of our departed comrades).
  • Let us remember who we are serving (comforting families by helping them connect to their loved one’s military service).
  • Let us remember that each service is its own (often the same, but different; we can be flexible, but whatever we do it may be the family’s one and only experience).
  • Let us commit to looking our best (clean, serviceable uniforms and shoes, shave and haircut).
  • Let us commit to being our best (attitudes, expressions, actions).
  • Let us commit to doing our best, focusing on the fundamentals of what we do.
  • Let us commit to being respectful.
  • Let us commit to supporting one another now, as we would have all those years ago.
  • Let us enjoy what we do and grow from it!

o    Training: Each section (Officers and Riflemen) should know what "right” looks like and use available time to make sure you are squared away and ready to offer a seamless honors experience.

o    Participation: at least one service per month, no fewer than ten services per year.   If a member either does not respond and / or does not participate as agreed upon, that person will be placed on an inactive list until he /she updates his / her status.
